Supporting Others
Supporting people in your community
What can you do to reduce doorstep crime? Well, we all have a role to play - the Police, Trading Standards, Professionals, Carers, Neighbours and Relatives. Together we can make a real difference in the community by helping to protect the vulnerable. So, think about what you can do?
Professionals and Business Callers
You may be a utility provider or delivery driver. You could be a volunteer. Or you might be a salesperson or legitimate trader who does business door-to-door. To discover how you can help, and to get advice and guidance on the law and best practice, please contact Trading Standards Wales.
Trading Standards Wales
There are 22 Local Authority Teams across Wales who work together to provide co-ordinated, consistent and improved services to businesses and consumers. We provide expert advice to consumers to prevent rogue trader crime and we offer help and advice to businesses to make sure they comply with Consumer Protection legislation.
If you have any queries and wish to contact your Local Authority Trading Standards Service click here for their contact details.
Banks, Post Offices & Building Societies
If you work with savings accounts, be on your guard for customers who act scared, confused or out of character. Because it could be that a rogue trader is making them empty their account. If you suspect foul play, alert the authorities.
Neighbours & Family
Whether it's a neighbour, parent or grandparent, we all probably know an elderly relative or neighbour who will be more vulnerable than most to rogue traders and distraction burglars. So, keep an eye out for them, make sure they know the Three Step Plan and volunteer to be their Nominated Neighbour.
