Anglesey Trading Standards Launches New Proof of Age Card
School pupils under 18 are being provided with new ID cards so that they can prove their age in the New Year. Anglesey Trading Standards have teamed up with local secondary schools and national proof of age card suppliers, Citizencard, to issue youngsters with proof of age cards.
The Citizencard initiative will be officially launched at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern at 9.15am on 6th January 2012.
Anglesey's Chief Trading Standards Officer, David Riley, explained, "The cards will be provided free of charge to under 18s in full time secondary education. They usually cost £15 each. They are Government-approved PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) accredited Proof of Age card.
He added, "The new cards will allow young people to prove their age as well as benefit from various discounts, for example, reduced rate travel on public transport or 'child' rate at the cinema. In addition, the cards will provide proof of age for age restricted products such as films/games designated as 12 / 15, without the need for young people to carry their passport."
Citizencard also offer various discounts to cardholders with national companies in conjunction with LEALTA e.g. 47% off at Alton Towers Resort, 7% off at Boots the Chemist and 10% off at Cineworld, to name but a few.
